Net4Science receives the 2019 award from the Chamber of Commerce of Catanzaro

During the eighteenth edition of the “Loyalty to Work and Economic Progress” award, the university spinoff Net4Science Srl, founded less than a year ago by the research group of Medicinal Chemistry of the University “Magna Græcia”, was awarded the prestigious award that from 1952 is organized by the Chamber of Commerce of Catanzaro. The event took place in the meeting room of the Chamber of Commerce and was divided into sections dedicated to the “Loyalty to Work” and “Economic Progress” awards, respectively. The first was dedicated to employees, industrial companies, artisans, agricultural companies and cooperatives. The second concerned companies distinguished themselves for innovation and those of the industrial, agricultural, artisanal and commercial sectors characterized by the significant contribution recognized to the economic development of the Province. Among these companies the only one awarded in this edition born directly from a university technology transfer is Net4Science Srl. The Chamber of Commerce has also selected the Net4Science spinoff for the free use of an exclusive stand at the seventh edition of the Maker Faire, which will be held in Rome from 18 to 20 October 2019. The motivation that can be read in the award certificate, signed by the President Dr. Daniele Rossi and by the General Manager Dr. Maurizio Ferrara, indicates the following: “Net4Science is the product of university education which becomes practical application. A spin-off of the Magna Græcia University of Catanzaro, which since 1996 has operated in the process of developing biologically active compounds, mainly through innovative computational techniques. N4S stands out for the remarkable contribution given by the economic development of the territory thanks to the services offered to international pharmaceutical and nutraceutical companies and to the research activity that distinguishes its fundamental scientific”. These words, repeated by the journalist Donatella Soluri during the awarding of the prize, were greatly appreciated by Professor Stefano Alcaro, the main promoter of the spinoff, who wanted to share the podium with the members of Net4Science (doctors Anna Artese, Antonio Lupia, Annalisa Maruca, Roberta Rocca and Salvatore Rotundo) present at the event, highlighting the fundamental role of the University in transferring knowledge for the creation of innovative companies that can offer new opportunities for qualified placement to the most brilliant and motivated graduates of the University of Catanzaro. The event among its 44 awards has given a special recognition to the memory of Cav. Giovanni Colosimo, a prominent entrepreneur of the city, already awarded an honorary degree in 2016 by the University “Magna Græcia” of Catanzaro.
